Google Local Search Idea from oooff.com

Sorry Smaxor, I am giving you a little crap here, hope you don’t mind. :P

Smaxor made a post about a guy using Google Local Search to profit, here is the post.

http://oooff.com/php-affiliate-seo-blog/affiliate-marketing/making-big-easy-money-with-google-local-search/

Great post, great money making idea, but why is he blogging about it?

Here is my guess (I might be wrong). Smaxor does payday loans and it is his niche. This guy here using the technique is his competitor

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=cash+advance+Atlanta+georgia&btnG=Search

Blog about the technique, make it public, I am sure a lot of people are gonna try it, google will probably be flooded with requests for local search listing, raise red flag, reevaluate it, ding ding ding, bye bye competitor~~~~~

Isn’t this how things always work on the Internet? The moment someone blog about a bug, it quickly gets shut down, ask Eli about it, ask the guy who profit from facebook about it.

Think twice before taking an action when you read a blog post. You can do it, so does others who read the same blog? Come up with something unique and keep it yourself :P

Find the golden / forgotten keywords in your niche part 2

Part one was posted on 2007-10-22.

http://tonytsai.com/find-the-golden-forgotten-keywords-in-your-niche/

If you look at part one closely, you’ll probably remember that I used divorce as an example and I listed out the keywords I found using my technique and posted them on the blog.

Remember, it has only been 15 days since I made that post and this blog is less than a month old

Here is my awstat screenshot for the searches I get for those keyword I placed in the part one post :)

Now, utilize the technique and start profiting from the golden keywords :D

The Day The Routers Died

My background is networking, this song freaking rocks, check out the song and the lyric below!!

(Set to AMERICAN PIE, by Don McLean)

a long long time ago i can still remember when my laptop could connect elsewhere

and i tell you all there was a day the network card i threw away had a purpose - and worked for you and me…. But 18 years completely wasted with each address we’ve aggregated the tables overflowing the traffic just stopped flowing….

And now we’re bearing all the scars and all my traceroutes showing stars… the packets would travel faster in cars… the day….the routers died

Chorus (ALL!!!!!)

So bye bye, folks at RIPE 55 Be persuaded to upgrade it or your network will die IPv6 just makes me let out a sigh But I spose we’d better give it a try I suppose we’d better give it a try

Now did you write an RFC That dictated how we all should be Did we listen like we should that day

Now were you back at RIPE fifty-four Where we heard the same things months before And the people knew they’d have to change their ways….

And we - knew that all the ISPs Could be - future proof for centuries

But that was then not now Spent too much time playing WoW

ooh there was time we sat on IRC Making jokes on how this day would be Now there’s no more use for TCP The day the routers died… Chorus (chime in now)

So bye bye, folks at RIPE 55 Be persuaded to upgrade it or your network will die IPv6 just makes me let out a sigh But I spose we’d better give it a try I suppose we’d better give it a try

I remember those old days I mourn Sitting in my room, downloading porn Yeah that’s how it used to be….

When the packets flowed from A to B via routers that could talk IP There was data..that could be exchanged between you and me….

Oh but - I could see you all ignore The fact - we’d fill up IPv4

But we all lost the nerve And we got what we deserved!

And while…we threw our network kit away And wished we’d heard the things they say Put all our lives in disarray

The day…the routers died… Chorus (those silent will be shot)

So bye bye, folks at RIPE 55 Be persuaded to upgrade it or your network will die IPv6 just makes me let out a sigh But I spose we’d better give it a try I suppose we’d better give it a try

Saw a man with whom I used to peer Asked him to rescue my career He just sighed and turned away..

I went down to the net cafe that I used to visit everyday But the man there said I might as well just leave…

And now we’ve all lost our purpose.. my cisco shares completely worthless…

No future meetings for me At the Hotel Krasnapolsky

and the men that make us push and push Like Geoff Huston and Randy Bush Should’ve listened to what they told us…. The day…the routers….died Chorus (time to lose your voice)

So bye bye, folks at RIPE 55 Be persuaded to upgrade it or your network will die IPv6 just makes me let out a sigh But I spose we’d better give it a try I suppose we’d better give it a try

My puli doggy

I love my dog, he is a puli. A pure breed, not mix between poodle and lab. His name is BongZhu. Meaning “The head of the mafia” Here are some pictures of him. He is a dog, but really more like a mobile mop because he will look like a mop when he grows up.

Took me awhile to find this cool fella and cost me a good fortunate, but he is definitely the coolest. Below are some pictures of him, hope you enjoy it. (Sorry, no technical or money making stuff this week, been super busy, but will have some cool posts next week) :)

Here is my puli when he was two months old, I got him from Missouri. I live at Carolina area, those are the pictures breeder sent me before I got him. I picked him instead of his brothers and sisters because he has the killer eyes and attitude.

Puli at 2 months old

Puli at 2 months old again

Picture of him when we first got him. Poor guy was on the air plane for 2 hours and he was traumatized.

Puli at 3 months old againPuli at 3 months old

His picture at 7 month old, he developed a “I don’t give a fuck” attitude, plus when he sits, he likes to put his leg out, looks very gangster

puli 7 months old - 2

puli 7 months old - 1

Picture of my puli at one year old, last picture is him laying on the hallway, tongue side way, face down, nuts up.

puli at 1 year old

random picture of bongzhu

random picture of bongzhu again

This is what a puli suppose to look like when they fully grown. (Not my dog)

what puli suppose to look like when they grow up

Find the golden / forgotten keywords in your niche

I do a lot of keyword and niche research like everyone else. I use websites and software like overture, wordtracker, wordze, google adwords, dowsers and etc to do my keyword research. They all give you a nice big list of keywords, but I always have a doubt whether or not those keywords are really going to perform well. Therefore, instead of using those keywords, I just use those tools to find the niche I want to target and use a method that works the system backward to find the keywords I want to make my site with.

First of all, I want to mention that I like to target long tail keywords because they are much easier to rank for, therefore this is the method to help me find those long tailed keywords.

Ok, let’s get started. Let’s say I use the keyword tools mentioned above to find a niche I want to target and I found that “divorce” is a good niche I want to jump into. So first thing I do is to build a site with the general topic “divorce”. Now, I need to know what keywords I would like to target, so I will go ahead and register a few cheap domains to help me with my research.

After getting the cheap domains, next thing I would do is to do some content scraping. I use a few programs/scripts that pulls the contents and mix them to create unique contents, but they are not readable to human eyes. The purpose is to create something for search engines.

After I am done with scraping, mixing and matching. I supply my info domain with a few links, not a lot, but just enough to get it indexed and bring it out of the sandbox and get searches.

Then I sit there and wait a week or two then harvest the results. Here is a short list of keywords I got from my “divorce” niche experiment.

kellie copeland kutz divorce
M. Firdos Ziauddin
buffy waltrip divorce
elsie flannigan divorce
Jerone Kelvin Bosarge of Mobile
wendy lee houseplants
Shelaine Tuytschaevers
“sumner county divorce records”
terry + linda bollea divorce
Michael Waltrip divorce
les paul/mary ford divorce
“cheryl wyatt” germantown, nc
Niecy Nash-divorce
family tree ohio “steckman”
buffy waltrip nude
“karon reynolds” mi
how find out if someone is divorced in CT free
DIVORCE PRO-BONA LAWYERS
“elsie flannigan, divorce”
rachel rey divorce
“missouri” “military spouse divorce
kellie copeland kutz divorce
kellie copeland divorce
“Pastor Renee Hornbuckle”
kellie copeland kutz
kellie Copeland divorce

I take the list, mark down those keywords, find people on DP to write seo friendly articles based on those keywords and post them on the divorce website with a good adsense template.

You won’t need to worry about the performance of those keywords because those are “proven” keywords that will bring in searches. Also, who the hell is kellie copeland?

The only problem you will probably run into is that you might have a little trouble finding people willing to write those articles for cheap, because the topic are very specific.

A few notes -
Those info domains will get banned eventually, I look at it as an investment for online business.
Do not use the domain you can’t afford to lose
Do not put adsense on the domains with scrape content, you will lose your adsense account
Stop crying about blackhat this and blackhat that, I look at it as business. If you don’t agree with my method then don’t implement it, don’t use it and go ahead and keep worship the almighty google. I am sure they will eventually throw you a bone when they make enough money.

Craigslist advertising, do you do it? How do you do it?

I love craigslist.com, not only it allows me to get a lot of goods for cheap, it is also a great place for me to advertise my websites

I like to advertise my site in the for sale section. I think most people go on there looking for cheap stuff, therefore in my opinion, for sale section has the most page view, so I tend to drop my ads there. However, if you just drop your ads there, 98% of the time your post will get flagged and removed by the staff. Therefore I always tweak my ad a little bit to avoid this problem.

Let’s say if I have a forum about..um..let’s say cars. What I would do is pick out a sales post in the classified section on my forum, post half of the description on the craigslist, and at the end say something like “click here for the price” or “click here for more detail”

This always work well for me, I rarely get my ads removed, it also brings in a lot of targeted traffic and most importantly, you will probably get some new members on your forum if you tweak it right. You can do stuff like “only members can reply to the sales post.”

As for can’t have similar posts, you got a hosting account, right? Create multiple emails, have them all forward to one account. Then just use the same post over and over by putting in different email address…….

Anyways, you got the idea. How do you promote your site on craigslist?

A lot of people here are a part of shoemoney gang, therefore this post might be a bit cheesy to the marketing gurus, but what the hell, I need to start somewhere, so might as well start with craigslist since I use them so much. The next post will probably be a little more interesting. It is going to be about how to find the golden / forgotten keyword in your niche.

Stupid Mistakes.

I registered this site on Sept 23 2007

Decide to put up this blog on Oct 16, so I changed my DNS info on Oct 16.

After changing the DNS info, I set up the site, then I have decided to look around for stuff to blog about that can bring me instant traffic and possibly some links. I was picking between shoemoney and johnchow as topic, then I saw belowabuck post, so I jumped on it.

After I was done with the post, I was debating whether or not I should release it right away, because as most of you know, DNS takes 24 to 48 hours to propagate, I was afraid that some people might have problem to see the site due to not having the up to dated DNS info, but the same time, belowabuck.com post was sinking down very fast on Shoemoney.com, he posts a good average about 2 or 3 posts a day, so I really wanted to release my post before it goes down to the bottom of the main page.

Therefore, I gambled…. I was not expecting a “blog post” on shoemoney about my site, I was more expecting just a pingback and possibly some traffic coming from his comment section.

After I released the post, I made a comment on his blog, then miracle happened. Instead of just a link back, he actually gave me a blog post about it, even tho it was very negative, but it was great exposure, at the same time, I realized he didn’t link it directly to my site. Instead, he linked to a cache/proxy type of site because he said when he clicked my site, it was taking forever to load while others are getting server not found error :(

Traffic Result - about 8k people saw my site from coral cache and about 2.4k people clicked in from Coral cache.

I guess it is 50% successful, got the exposure, but didn’t really get the link. Damn you DNS propagation!!!!

Some people are saying I am not optimize this blog for profit at all. Well, it is a new site, 2 days old, what do you expect? I always like to let my sites mature a bit before putting on any type of ads.

Btw, if you are reading this post and you haven’t subscribe to Shoemoney’s blog, hurry up and do it, I want him to win, his blog is way more informative compare to john chow.

Shoemoney’s belowabuck.com website

Shoemoney made a new blog post about his belowabuck.com website. After reading it, I was a bit disappointed but at the same time I think he is pretty smart and brave enough to blog about such a site.

Let me go ahead and break it down from affiliate marketing’s standpoint.

Do you really think he makes money from promoting items under a dollar? Don’t be a fool. Ebay pays 50% commission on the fee seller pays ebay. For something under a dollar, you are looking to earn maybe 2 to 5 cents per sale on the item.

Why would he start such a site with so little of profit? Reason is easy. He is using the site as a lure to lure people click through the link, register his affiliate cookies in people’s browser, and whenever people make any purchase on ebay, he makes commission off those purchases.

This trick would only work with ebay simply because there is a LOT of people shop on ebay every single day, I would say probably 6 out of 10 American shop on ebay. This site is only used as lure, the whole point is to register that affiliate cookie and make commission off other purchases.

Why I am disappointed? He should have kept it himself, because he is not the only person doing the trick.

You can see his post here

Where I started and why I started this blog

I started using Internet at the age of 14. Started out with America Online dial up. It was the shit back then. Going into chat room and type Sex/Age/Location was a daily routine.

Not long after that, I got sick of chatting online. Later on I found out a friend of mine had his own website. It was really cool but the same time I was really jealous. Then I figured if he could have a website, I can have one too. Therefore I started doing research on how to make a website.

I designed my first site with FrontPage Express. I also did a lot of HTML copy/pasting from other websites and going to other sites to download their javasript to make my site look pretty. The material on the site was very general, bunch of wallpaper pictures I downloaded, stories I copy from other sites and etc. I didn’t have money to register for a domain, so I used the free domain and webspace provided by America Online. Therefore I had a website like this “http://members.aol.com/myscreenname/” <— something like that, I can’t quite remember.

Website was done, I didn’t know how to promote. I knew nothing about Internet marketing and SEO, so my only way of promotion was going to school and tell my classmates about my website and write the URL on the blackboard. I also installed a counter on the site so I could see how many hits I was getting each day. I was lucky to get about 50 to 60 hits a day, nothing big.

I was a big user of newsgroup back in the days, reading people’s post, download stuff off newsgroup and etc, one day I thought to myself, why don’t I post my website in the newsgroup and see what happens. I posted it, the next day, 300 hits increase. It was awesome, newsgroup advertising was the shit back then. I was also getting a lot of good feedbacks on my site and I was happy.

Until one day, I was playing with the files and I accidentally deleted all the files. I didn’t know anything about back up and I was too lazy to redo everything, so that’s when I quit my Internet adventure..

Up until I was 22, I got a helpdesk job, you know how helpdesk jobs are. If nothing breaks, then you have no work. I was bored out of my mind and I started looking for stuff to do. At that time, I enjoy keeping aquarium fish very much, therefore I started a local aquarium forum. Again, I knew nothing about promoting or SEO, so my promoting method was simple. Print out fliers and post them in the local fish store, post my link on craigslist.com. The same time, I was researching on how to get my page to rank#1 on google. I ran into digitalpoint forum while I was doing my research and learned a lot of SEO techniques. Eventually my site got ranked #1 for the term I wanted to rank. I was a happy man again.

However, being rank#1 for the terms you want still doesn’t bring you enough traffic, so I started looking into some other stuff. Therefore hanging out on DP forum becomes another daily routine for me. One day I stumble upon a post by Shoemoney, ya know, the one he was holding 113k adsense check. That’s when I discover the potential of making money on the Internet.

As the time goes on, I played with many different seo and marketing techniques, both whitehat and blackhat. Eventually I started my own company for all the Internet stuff I am doing. I love the Internet market, very dynamic, there is always new things for you to try and experiment. You might be wasting a lot of time and money trying new things, but you will always learn something new in return. I have also came up with a lot of great/crazy ideas. I have implemented some myself and some ideas I simply don’t have the resource or ability to make it happen. (I can read and mod some code, but I can’t code for shit) That’s why I decided to start this blog. I want to share my idea to those people with ability and resource to make it happen.
